Paschim Banga Yuba Kalyan Manch is working in close association with the community in various development programmes since 1992. Our focus areas of work have been Community Development project, Education, Health, Ensuring Human Rights and relief, agriculture and income generation. To ensure children in Education, health and Nutrition presently we are working with the support of few Government, National and International Development Agencies.
Paschim Banga Yuba Kalyan Manch is a civil society organization working in almost all the districts in West Bengal, intervening different development agenda in different strata of society, through democratic dialogue, community consensus & entitlement through empowering process & livelihood actions. We do work with government, state-government, quasi-government institutions, so that the issue of good governance can prevail & justice & rule of law can be accessed by the commonest people living in the bottom of the social pyramid. Currently our organization is holding the state secretariat of the Lokayukta, West Bengal, an anti corruption authority for political elites & initiator of the West Bengal Child protection cell. At the same time we are playing pivotal, integral & crucial path in different social networks like WEBEN, WB Aids Prevention Control Society, SLSA & KUSP under ministry of urban Affairs, Government of West Bengal.
At present we are working with Deprived Children in the slum areas of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. We are seeking to ensure their education, protection and to build their equitable place as a member of mainstream community with the support of CRY.
Retention of bellow poverty line 1st generation learners is also under our purview. PBYKM is focusing on formation of mother’s group, which can carry forward the education, nutrition care & protection of general well-being of a child. To develop the basic concept of mother, how to deal with family violence and manage with their low income in family unit & smoothly run and build the capacity of family growth without any lone from other side in Kolkata municipality tack a initiative to from a NHG (Never hood group ) to build the economic empowerment for low income group family This group often led to SHG (Self Help Group).
PBYKM is in process of opening an Agricultural Research & Development Centre in Raychawk. 30 bighas of land is contributed to PBYKM by the community people of Raychawk for having this centre.
We are the member of National Children Science congress and Cluster Resource Organization in West Bengal. We are holding Children Science awareness programmes in their school. We are convenor of Kolkata Year of Scientific Awareness-2004 in West Bengal. We organized this awareness programme in West Bengal in 2004, as Regional Convener organization.
